How to check if DataScope has permission to access your location while answering a form?

To turn Location Services on or off for DataScope, first turn Location Services on or off for your phone, and then location access for the DataScope app.

📌 Android Devices

To turn Location Services on or off for your Android device:

  1. Tap Settings > Security & location > Location.

  2. Tap  to turn Location Services on or off.

In older Android devices (OS 5.1.1 and earlier), turning on Location Services automatically turns on location access for the DataScope app.

To turn location access on or off for the DataScope app for Android (OS 6.0+):

  1. Tap Settings > Apps > ⚙> App Permissions > Location.

  2. Scroll through the list of apps and tap  near DataScope.

  3. Restart the DataScope app for Android.

📌 iOS Devices

To turn Location Services on or off for your iOS device:

  1. Tap Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

  2. Tap  near Location Services.

To turn location access on or off for the DataScope app for iOS (version 8.0+):

  1. Go to your device's home screen.

  2. Tap Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

  3. Scroll through the list of apps below, tap DataScope and select Always, While Using the App, or Never.

  4. Restart the DataScope app for iPhone or iPad.

No, you don't need to make any special settings on your forms for geolocation to appear in your answers (PDF or Excel). Simply activate access according to the instructions above.

  • If your GPS is not working (location services)

If you are having issues accessing your GPS services, please try one or more of the following options:

  1. The DataScope app is not authorized to access the GPS from your device. In this case, please refer to the text above to check how to proceed. 

  2. Another option is that the DataScope app is authorized but the GPS from your device is off. In this case, you will need to habilitate it according to your device’s configuration.

  3. The GPS signal is not available at the location. In this case, try to move or search for a place where the signal is working.
