How can I add a description to my questions?

Learn how to use the Description field to add additional information or instructions when the question title is not enough

Written by Jessica Franco

When the text of a question is too long for the Title field, you can use the Description field to add additional information or instructions for the person completing the form.

What is the difference between Title and Description?

When creating a question in the Form Editor, you'll find two main fields:

  • Title: this is the main text of the question and helps identify it. This content appears when you export the data.

    Example: Name

  • Description: allows you to add longer text to complement the question or explain how it should be answered. This field is optional and does not appear when exporting the data.

Example: Enter your full name as it appears on your identification document.

How is it displayed when completing the form?

The Description is displayed together with the question title when the user completes the form.

This allows you to add instructions, clarifications, or additional information without making the question title too long.

What information appears when exporting the data?

When you export the responses, the Title content is included, but the Description is not included in the exported data.

💡 Tip: use the Title to identify the question and the Description to add instructions or additional details that help users answer it correctly.
