How do I search for items in a list from the app?

When you answer a question that uses a Data List, you can quickly search for the item you need instead of scrolling through the whole list.

The way you search depends on the view the question is configured with: Answer by answer or Scroll.

In this view, you type the item's name in the Search in list field, and the results filter directly as you type, showing the options that match.

You can also use the barcode icon next to the search field to scan and find an item (see below).

In Scroll view, when you type in the search field, the app shows you search suggestions so you can choose how you want to search:

Runs a broader, more flexible search. Use it when you don't need the text to match exactly what you typed and you want DataScope to find items related to your search.

For example, if you type Alt3, the "Search Alt3" option (general search) will show items related to that text within the information available in the list.

Searches for items that contain the text exactly as it was typed, shown as the Search "text" option (exact phrase match).

This option is useful when you want to narrow down the results and specifically find items that match the entered text.

💡 Tip: if the general search shows too many results, try Exact match to narrow them down.

In this view, you'll also find, next to the search field, the barcode icon and a refresh icon (circular arrows) to reload the list's available items.

💡 If you're searching for an item and it doesn't appear, the list may not be updated on your device. Click the circular arrows icon to refresh it and try your search again.

In both views, you can find an item using DataScope's barcode scanner.
