How do I sync pending answers?

Instructions for manually syncing answers to forms completed without an internet connection, and what to do if an error appears.

Written by Jessica Franco

If you completed a form without an internet connection, the answer will be stored on your device until you can connect again.

Once you have a connection, you can manually sync pending answers from My History.

🔄 How do I sync a pending answer?

  1. Open the DataScope app.

  2. Go to My History.

  3. Pull the list of answers down to start the sync.

  4. Wait until the process finishes.

Important: press the sync button only once. The process will continue in the background, so there's no need to press it several times.

The time needed to complete the sync will depend on your internet connection and the size of the answer. Answers containing many photos or files may take longer to sync.

⚠️ What do I do if an answer isn't syncing?

Errors related to photos or attached files can appear during syncing. Some common reasons are:

  • A weak or unstable internet connection.

  • A photo or file is no longer available on the device.

📌 Before checking the above, verify these two basic points:

  • The answer must be finalized, not saved as a draft. If the form still appears under My History > Drafts, you need to finalize it first — an unfinished draft won't sync.

  • Check that you have the latest version of the app installed. You can update it from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

If a problem occurs, you'll receive a notification indicating that you need to reload some images.

1. Review the answers with errors

Select View invalid answers. The app will take you directly to the answers with issues.

2. Review the photos or files

Within the form, identify the files that need to be resent. Photos that need attention will appear grayed out.

Select the corresponding photos or files again to reload them.

3. Resend the files

Once you've resent all the pending files, the answers without errors will appear under To sync. Select the corresponding button to complete the sync.

🛠️ What do I do if the error continues?

If the answer still isn't syncing:

  1. Open the answer.

  2. Select Edit answer.

  3. Review the files with issues again.

  4. Finish the answer and try syncing it again.

If you don't see the Edit answer option, it's possible your user doesn't have permission to edit answers. In that case, contact your account's Administrator.

📌 Remember

  • You need an internet connection to sync pending answers.

  • Don't press the sync button several times.

  • Answers with many images or files may take longer to sync.

  • If an error appears, first check the photos and attached files of the answer.
