Yes. DataScope lets you answer forms without an internet connection from the mobile app.
This is especially useful when working in places where the internet connection is unstable or unavailable.
📵 What happens when I don't have a connection?
When the device doesn't have an internet connection, you can keep answering forms normally.
The answers you complete while offline:
Are temporarily stored on the device.
Are not lost due to lack of connection.
Sync with DataScope once the device has an internet connection again.
While an answer hasn't synced yet, it will only be available on the device and can be checked from My History. It won't appear on the Web Platform yet.
🔄 How do answers sync?
There are two ways to sync pending answers.
Automatically
When you regain an internet connection and open DataScope, the app will try to automatically sync pending answers.
Manually
You can also start the sync manually from My History.
Go to My History.
Select Sync Answers.
You can also pull down on the list of answers to start the sync.
⚠️ Recommendations for working offline
To avoid issues with the information stored on the device:
Sync your answers periodically, especially once you regain an internet connection.
Check in My History that pending answers have synced correctly.
Avoid using the same user simultaneously on several devices.
Important: answers that haven't synced yet remain stored locally on the device. If you delete the app, lose access to the device, or take any action that erases its data before syncing, those answers might not be available.
💡 Example
A technician needs to carry out an inspection at a location with no internet coverage.
Open DataScope and download the necessary information beforehand.
Complete the form normally, even without a connection.
The answer stays stored on the device.
When the connection is restored, DataScope syncs the answer.
Once synced, the answer will be available on the Web Platform.
📌 Keep in mind
You don't need to be connected to the internet to complete a form from the mobile app. However, you do need to regain a connection to sync the information so the answers become available on the Web Platform.
