The Sensors module lets you connect the sensors you already have installed in the field (temperature, GPS, hour meters, vibration, etc.) directly to DataScope, so you can stop logging readings by hand.
📌 This is an initial version of the module, currently available only for the Enterprise plan. Features and availability may change as we continue improving it.
🔌 How do I connect my sensors?
All your devices send their information to a single address, using the same account credential. Each message is automatically recognized by the device identifier included inside it.
To set it up:
Go to Sensors > Connection.
Copy the Destination address.
Copy the Account credential (you can regenerate it if needed from Regenerate credential).
Configure your devices or existing integration to send their readings to that address, using that credential.
There's no required message format. You can send the JSON your system already produces, as is — DataScope automatically detects and stores every attribute you send, including nested ones.
If you already had a data-sending integration set up before, the sending process doesn't change: it's the same flow as always.
📥 Unmapped inputs
When a message arrives in your account but isn't yet associated with any sensor, it appears under the Inputs tab, in Unmapped inputs.
From there, you can review the received message (date, result, and content) and click Map to associate it with a new or existing sensor.
📋 Manage your sensors
Under the Sensors tab, you can see the full list of your sensors, organized by Place (or grouped under "No place" if they don't have one assigned), with the following columns:
ID: the sensor's identifier.
Sensor: the name you gave it.
Status: for example, "Not reporting" or "Rejecting."
Last reading: the date and time of the last data received.
Linked asset: the Asset associated with that sensor, if applicable.
Automatic meter: whether the sensor is automatically feeding a meter.
You can also view your sensors on a Map, based on their location.
🔗 Link a sensor to an Asset and a Meter
The main new feature in this version is that you can link a sensor directly to an Asset, and use that sensor to automatically feed one of its Meters — without having to log the reading manually.
To link a sensor to an Asset:
Go to Assets, open the corresponding asset, and go to the Sensors tab.
Click Link sensor and select the sensor you want to associate.
You can also do this from the Sensors table, using the edit icon next to the Linked asset column.
To have the sensor automatically feed a Meter:
In the asset, go to the Meters tab.
On the corresponding meter, click Turn on automatic mode.
From that point on, the meter will update on its own with every reading sent by the linked sensor, with no need to log it manually.
If you need to unlink a sensor from an asset, you can do so from the asset's Sensors tab, using the Unlink option.
💡 How do I get started?
If your account doesn't have the Sensors module enabled, when you go to that section you'll see a message indicating the module isn't available on your account, with a button to contact support and request more information.
