The date and time associated with an answer can depend on the date, time, and time zone settings of the device the form was completed from.
If an answer shows an incorrect date or time in Home, check the settings of the device used to answer it.
🕐 How do I check the date, time, and time zone?
Android
Open Settings.
Go to System or General management, depending on the device.
Select Date and time.
Turn on automatic date and time and automatic time zone, if available.
iPhone or iPad
Open Settings.
Select General.
Go to Date & Time.
Turn on Set Automatically.
Also check that the device's time zone is correct.
📌 Important: the names and location of these options can vary depending on the device model and operating system version.
⚙️ Account time zone and date format
Besides the device's settings, DataScope has two account-level settings that can affect how you see dates, regardless of how well configured the device is:
Account time zone
Go to Web Platform > Settings > Account Settings to check and adjust the Time Zone configured for your account. If this time zone doesn't match the one on the device that answered the form, it can create a difference in the displayed time.
Date format
From the same place, you can choose how dates are displayed on your account, for example dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy. This format applies platform-wide, for all users on the account.
📌 A date can be technically correct but look "incorrect" if it's interpreted with the wrong format. For example, 03/04 can be read as April 3rd or as March 4th, depending on the configured format.
📱 What if the form was answered offline?
If the form was completed without an internet connection, the answer can remain stored on the device until it syncs.
That's why it's important for the device's date, time, and time zone to be correct before completing the answer.
Once the answer syncs with the Web Platform, the recorded information becomes associated with the answer.
📌 Important: in DataScope, forms are sorted in Home based on the sync date and time, not necessarily on the date they were completed. This means an answer completed offline may appear, in the list's order, at a different point than when it was actually answered, depending on when it synced with the server.
⚠️ Is the date or time still incorrect?
If you've already corrected the device's settings and new answers still show an incorrect date or time:
Confirm that the device's date, time, and time zone are correct.
Check that the account's configured time zone and date format are what you expect.
Check that the DataScope app is updated.
Close and reopen the app.
Submit a new answer to check whether the problem persists.
If the problem continues, contact DataScope's Support team and provide:
The device's model.
The Android or iOS version.
The date and time shown on the device.
The date and time shown in DataScope.
The affected answer's code.
📌 Remember
Before completing a form, make sure the device has the correct date, time, and time zone configured.
This is especially important when you work offline and answers sync later, since the order in Home depends on the sync time, not on when the form was answered.
