In DataScope, forms answered through the web version can capture the user’s geolocation (latitude and longitude), as long as the browser has permission to access the location.
This information is useful to:
Validate where an inspection or record was performed.
Improve response traceability.
Complement reports and analysis.
How does geolocation work on the web?
When a user opens a form on the web, the browser requests permission to access the device’s location.
👉 If the permission is accepted, DataScope automatically records the geolocation along with the form response.
👉 If the permission is denied or blocked, the location cannot be captured.
Important requirement
For geolocation to be collected correctly, the user must:
Have location services enabled on their device.
Allow location access in the browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, etc.).
This permission is usually requested the first time the form is opened.
How to enable location access in the browser?
Open the form via the web.
When the browser displays the message requesting location access, select Allow.
Continue answering the form normally.
If the permission was previously blocked, it will be necessary to:
Access the browser settings.
Go to the Privacy / Location section.
Allow location access for the DataScope website.
Considerations
Geolocation accuracy depends on the browser and the device.
If the user does not grant permission, the form can still be answered, but without location data.
On mobile devices, accuracy is usually higher than on desktop computers.
